We’re Recycling Content
When it comes to creating content, it’s hard work! Consistently putting out new material can be a hassle and many of us shy away from recycling content. Whatever the reason, I’m here to tell you it’s completely fine to reuse your work. Content is art and it’s timeless, it should be treated as such. Spending time and energy to produce high quality content, it’s meant to be repurposed.
Share a Throwback
The most common way of repurposing content is sharing a throwback. No, it doesn’t have to be on #throwbackthursday, and honestly that’s kind of outdated. Posting a throwback or taking a walk down memory lane can be anytime you feel the need. As content creators you have to keep in mind that you’re always getting new followers and viewers. Revisiting the glory days that got you to your present is a nice gesture for your audience to feel even more connected. So yeah, throwbacks don’t have to be cringy, they can be welcoming and intentional.
Use Content Seasonally
Every year we spend time, energy, and money to create high quality content, just to use it one time– not anymore! This time around we’re thinking strategically and by strategically, I mean seasonally. Holidays, seasons, international days and months are all excuses to exercise recycling content. Take a look at your calendar, do a google search and find the dates that are relevant to your business and brand and start repurposing.
Pair with Trending Audio
Now that visuals are trending and seem to be going nowhere anytime soon, pairing your old content with trending audio is a must. Showcase one, or multiple pieces of old content with new trending audio (and copy). Trust me. All you have to do is go to the “trending audio” page on Instagram or Tiktok and select a sound. With this technique you knock two birds out with one stone. You’re reusing content, and you’re increasing your engagement by using a sound that is circulating the platform at a fast(er) pace.
Make it a Meme
One way to engage with your audience is to relate and make them laugh– memes are known to do just that. A meme is an amusing or interesting item (such as a captioned picture or video) or genre of items that is spread widely online especially through social media. I’ve made memes from old photo ops that I can’t let go to waste. I also post these same memes to the blog, Pinterest, and Facebook. Honey, stop playing and get the most out of your content!
Content Compilation
Compiling multiple pieces of your old content is another way to recycle and share with your audience. When you do this, there’s a ton of ways to make it make sense for you and your audience. Sure, you could just post 10 random throwbacks altogether but we’re more creative than that. With that being the case, I recommend strategizing ways to execute this task. Just to give you an idea, if you’re a beauty creator, you could post “My Top 10 All Time Favorite Looks”. Face it, the list of ideas when it comes to compiling seasoned material are endless.. what are you waiting for, let’s recreate!
